Friends of Red Creek Partnership

The Friends of Red Creek Partnership (FORC) was formed in 2006 to help preserve the important Red Creek watershed. Red Creek has a drainage area of over 400 square miles. It is an important sub-basin of the Pascagoula River Watershed, a nationally significant eco-system with the largest unimpeded river in the continental United States. The FORC partnership area includes all of Red Creek as it flows through Stone County. The partnership is a project of the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain, whose mission is to conserve, promote and protect the open spaces and green places of ecological, cultural or scenic significance in the counties of the Mississippi Coastal Plain.

Stone County Arts Council
The Stone County Arts Council’s mission is to improve the quality of life through the arts. Its goals are to promote and improve the historical and/or cultural art awareness through involvement, learning, and appreciations opportunities in all art forms.

Stone County Forestry Association
Affiliate of the Mississippi Forestry Association
The purpose of the association shall be to serve as the "Voice of Forestry" in Stone County and to conduct public affairs, communication, and educational programs that will foster better forest management and utilization as well as understanding of and appreciation for the forest, its wildlife, and forest based industries of Stone County.
Meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 for dutch-treat breakfast at the Saw Mill Restaurant. (Annual dues are $15 individual, $25 couple; anyone with an interest in forestry is welcome.)
Share your experiences with other tree farmers; learn about techniques, workshops and programs.

The Stone County Telling Trees Project
Celebrating history through art, the Telling Trees is a project to research, document and present Stone County’s past through the gathering of oral histories and having them performed through storytelling. The Stone County Arts Council initiated the project in 2007 in partnership with the City of Wiggins, Mississippi Arts Commission, Mississippi Forestry Commission, Mississippi Coastal Plains RC&D Council, Inc., Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area, Mississippi Humanities Council, National Storytelling Network, Stone County Arts Council, Stone County Economic Development Partnership, Stone County School District Students Stone County Supervisors.
